That is a fair point.....

And most times fans see the player and not the person! Often far too guilty of that.

I have to say, I really do take your point and maybe sometimes do expect a lot, however, Nathan was particularly disappointing in terms of end product. I personally blame the insistence on playing left, mainly due to snod on right (good riddance btw!). At WBA although his end product was bad, Nathan was fantastic/ a threat mainly on the right wing.
