I'm aware of a few cases where the new employer found out and used it as an opportunity to bin the employee.
Nothing wrong with being open about it but asking for more anyway - current salary is far less important than the market rate for your skills/experience, and they will already have a decent idea of how much it is going to cost them to fill that role and the budget will have been set aside on that basis.
I think for my last interview I just said I was currently on something well below market rate, and that the desire for better pay was one of the reasons for applying to their firm in the first place.
