umpiring problems

Hello Keith

Firstly may I say how nice it was to see you again and stand in what was a very interesting match to be involved in. The result could have gone either way and I enjoyed umpiring a fiercely contested match like that. All the other matches I have been involved in so far this year have been a little one sided..

As usual the welcome at St Aulaye was second to none and I thank you in part for that.

Keith, despite being 'Bordeaux's umpire' (I really do dislike that tag, maybe I should join St Aulaye CC?!?!) I judge each ball on its merits whoever is slinging it down / slogging it to cow corner. That is after all our role as an umpire.

I thought the conduct of the players during the match was within the spirit of cricket, however, I thought that some of the post game 'discussions' were not in the same spirit, and I would not be surprised if these 'discussions' were 'discussed' in the aftermath of this match.

I am writing this email to you as a colleague. I have not copied anyone into this email. The point of this email is to offer my support and co-operation should my input be required at any point. Of course I would rather not be involved at all but there you go. Maybe this will go no further, who knows.

All the best, and hopefully see you out there on the square again soon.
