Was far from convinced when I first heard the news, because like many on here (I think), was expecting a slightly bigger name with more experience to be given the role. Having watched his interview and the way McNally and Bowkett spoke about him in the recent press conference, I'm starting to feel a lot more optimistic about things with him at the helm.
This could very well be the start of something good at the club. Neil seems very determined and realistic about the fact that there is loads to learn, but I think he might just be able to do it. I'm sure it won't be easy, but I'm going to put my neck on the line here and say we will make top 6 with him in charge next season.
During the last 5 games last season I wouldn't be surprised if Adams was managing them the best way he saw fit in order to keep himself in the running for the job permenantly whatever our fate became, relegation or otherwise. It was a pretty impossible task given the circumstances and how late he was appointed, post Hughton - but he clearly did enough in the boards' eyes regarding the overall management of the club during that time, on and off the pitch, to get the role he now has.
I hope he gets off to a good start next season to win over the fans who like me initially doubted his appointment and abilities etc (it's not like we've really seen enough from him yet to decide to be fair) because I do think he may well buck the recent trend of rubbish inside appointments (Megson, Deehan, Gunn, Hamilton etc) and bring back some of the previous successes ala Stringer, Williams, Walker etc
He seems to care alot about NCFC (obviously given his connections over the past 20 odd years) and clearly has some potential in terms of management, if even only at youth level and in terms of coaching rather than as manager, although McNally & Bowkett seem to be pleased with his management of the players in general - I hope they are right, and I hope that the "core" players are enough to build around going forward, when the non-core leave.
