I don't think appointing Adams was an exercise in cost-cutting.

The amount of money saved would be negligible in the scheme of things. It would be like hocking yourself up to the eyeballs to buy a Bentley, but not having metallic paint to save a few quid. It was just a stupid appointment. Unbelievably stupid.
