If Lennon is in the frame.....

and I hope he is because of the candidates we've been linked with he would be top of my list, then it would clearly make sense for there to be complete denial on all sides of any interest until his departure is fully sorted with Celtic because otherwise you end up in a Paul Lambert style compensation wrangle. In fact you'd probably leave it a few days before anything at all leaks out so as to avoid any accusations from Celtic.

That's the straw I cling to.

The alternative is of course that we are genuinely not interested in Lennon and there has been absolutely no contact!
