He is perfectly entitled to say it

because his only priority now is to get a new job. In fact he would be an absolute idiot not to say it.

Meanwhile, the club will say he wouldn't because they have to justify their decision.

However absolutely everyone else is merely offering opinions that suit their views. Completely meaningless.
