Ok, in 2000 I think the debt was 6m, and we financed a ?15m loan (which is considered

not debt because of the structured period of repayment)

By 2006 when Worthy left, the debt stood at something like ?18m. That's after the premier league dream pay out and parachute payments

By the time Roeder and Gunn were here, our CEO was only actioning loans as transfers, or was waging long battles with other clubs over players, which eventually fell through because we wouldn't match the price they were asking

In dropping to league one, it was seen that we were about 19m in debt with the structured ?15m loan in the background with 6 years left to pay)

So yeah, a promotional run from league one to the prem was great, and made us "debt free". But suggesting that it's been a smooth well run thing, is a little bit of a fantasy really. Up till promotion to the prem, we have and always have been in more debt than when Chase nearly 'destroyed us'
