On a related subject, enjoyed this email I got today from a Derby supporting friend, the the key moments of the season for them (and Burnley):
"Let's quickly skip over the baffling decision to sell Burnley Jason Shackell for peanuts and concentrate on the pivotal events at Turf Moor this year. Picture the scene if you will gents, It is the 1st of March and Derby have closed in on Burnley who lead by just a couple of points in the race for automatic promotion. Win and we go ahead of Burnley, we are confident and playing well.
Burnley start well and go one up, this is not a big deal as we usually need to concede to get going. Our centre forward Chris Martin is harshly booked for a nothing challenge (it wasn't actually a foul) but no matter, we are playing well and putting the Clarets under pressure. It is only a matter of time before we equalise and power on to win. Sure enough, excellent play around the edge of the box tees up the aforementioned Martin who has his leg taken away from him for a clear penalty. But it doesn't matter! The ball rolls to Jeff Hendrick who hammers it in to level. But what's this? The referee is disallowing our goal, ah, he must have blown for the penalty. No he is giving Martin a second yellow for the unusual offence of being fouled in the box."
So Shackell and Martin apparently played key roles in the promotion race they year. Whoda thunk.
