Reportedly, this baffled the players as well: they knew they were in trouble, they knew they needed someone else, but they couldn't understand why nothing happened... and then why we brought the youth team coach in instead.

But the reason I'd resign if I were McNally is because we have to start again. With exactly the same energy, vigour and drive as we had way back in Summer 2009. Can he and the board do that? It's way, way easier said than done.
