while they are here teams like us will never be anything more than "opponent"

we're someone to fill the schedules and give those teams someone to play against (and hopefully thrash) to satisfy the global audience. It's why we're deemed so worthless by those in power - anyone (Rochdale say) could fulfil that role without noticeably weakening the Prems' global appeal.
