How do you know this? There seems to be this misconception that

we can sign any player we want. I think you'll find the number of top class players wanting to come to NCFC is actually quite small. Our main targets all fell through.

Our one big gamble failed (as did the smaller one) & we were left without a strike force. Survival is pretty well impossible without at least one decent forward.
