I've always believed the two are intertwined.

The business looks after itself with the huge injections of cash the premier league enjoys. Something changed, we had been run superbly, then something went badly awry. Did some board member or members get a little bit big for their boots ? This could and should have been avoided. For that, somebody should be hanging their head in shame. We all have our theories on who that should be I'm sure.
