iTunes help! So no problems until yesterday when I

Attach my iPhone via the USB. iTunes is on, computer recognises iPhone, iTunes does not.
Off and on again, an hour of pissing about, no luck.
Then try my wife's iPod, again iTunes does not do its little noise and show "Andys iPhone"
I assume it's an iTunes problem. Been working fine for ages.
Any ideas?
