Why is our best defender not playing at the moment?

It seems ludicrous that Bassong is out of the squad entirely. We've kept 10 clean sheets in the 27 games he hast started this season, and just 1 in the 9 that he hasn't.

Some very visible errors shouldn't hide the fact that his positioning, reading of the play, and command of the area is far better than any other of our defensive options.
