I've been hoping we'd give 3 5 2 a try for ages like they did today

Much rather lose one at the back and play narrow as most teams don't attack with width anymore, than lose a forward to have that extra body in midfield. They played Gerrard in the middle of their 3 and he didn't look out of place or exposed, pacewise.
