We never really looked in danger of relegation under Lambert

It was always a possibility of course; but we only lost form after we'd reached the magic 40pts (or thereabouts) when I think he was experimenting more (and probably negotiating with Villa the treacherous bastard). Last season under Hoots we gradually slid down the table after Christmas and we could so easily have gone down if we hadn't beaten disinterested West Brom. This season we've never been *out* of danger really - we've basically been looking down at others and assuming they'll be worse - usually 5 or 6 of them; but now only sure of Cardiff and one of Sunderland, Fulham & West Brom

Old ground now; but there is no doubt Hughton should have been sacked last weekend. None at all. The timing is only bad because he wasn't sacked earlier.
