I don't dislike Chris and think he has been a great representation of the club in terms of his behaviour and what not, but it's just not working out and he has to go regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season.
I suggested Martinez at the time and a few said it would be silly to go for a relegated manager, but bloody hell that would have been a dream appointment. However, I accept that he was probably always likely to end up at a bigger club than Norwich.
If Poyet takes Sunderland down fighting while only missing survival by a fine margin then I would like him here. Took over a poor squad that had 1 point from their first seven games, revitalised them, got them to play decent football, picked up some great league results and reached a cup final. I think his points per game ratio is something like 1 per game so he has done a good job so far for them.
People will think that's mad, but many thought sacking Hughton would be mad too.
