It was named by the returning 'Chase Out' boycotters

From my understanding a group who didn't renew their season tickets because of Chase, returned after he left. Not being able to get their old seats back they setup there. The small group then grew. One of the original Snakepitters looked a lot like Rick Parfitt.

I had a season ticket in the Snakepit for one season when they had the band there.
