hard-working, honest as they come, and had a wicked sense of humour (but then you knew that already). He was an intrinsic part of the "evening-shift" on this message board... and as well as sharing his passion for Norwich City, he'd often share insights into his life, his frustrations at work, and the pride he had in his family.
We all knew him as Suggs on here, but he never hid behind his pseudonym. Some of us were privileged to get to know him as Alan Fisher from Rhyll, a good friend who you could always share a laugh and a joke with, whatever life was throwing at him. If he'd had a crap day at the lead factory, he'd off-load his frustrations on here, and once that was out of his system he would shift mood and wind-up fellow posters or write something outrageously cheeky... but he was never malicious or personal with anyone.
Alan was the epitome of a true gentleman. He loved and cared deeply for his family, and often worried about you (think it was you who moved to the south coast to live with your boyfriend?) It comes with much regret and sadness that he will be missed by so many whose lives he touched. I used to rib him for a being a 'dribbly old fart', but never more pleased when he popped up for a bit of banter.
My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Please do update us when you can, and like a few others below I would willingly make some sort of contribution or donation if possible.
RIP Alan, and now you're up there, can you please find out wassgornon with Norwich and fix it. Miss you pal!
