If you were being harsh, you'd say we had a

cowardly manager - sets up cautiously, if we do score we sit back, subs too late, Fer played too deep, creative Wes not played, Redmond on bench etc

and a cowardly Board - failed to sack when they had the chance, then failed to back in the transfer window.
