Grammar/Spelling Fans- help needed please.
This is from todays EN report on Saturday's spitting row, which the FA are going investigate.
My question is this: Isn't it a fine-tooth comb? I know everyone pronounces it as a fine tooth-comb but how do you comb teeth? Surely its the teeth of the comb that are fine?
Sorry for being a geek but if anyone knows for sure please let me know.
