I agree with PNE on this

Thought nigel was a bit silly confirming this at the time. It's an obvious 'loop hole' we've taken advantage of and making it public, and bringing people's attention to it is asking for trouble. it should of been publicised as a loan, then in jan "shock" we sign him. Instead we've made it clear that we've basically done a permanent deal during a time that fifa regualtions prohibit them.
