He's had a season with the squad and we don't seem to be improving any. In fact a few people on here suggest we're going backwards.
Some people argue that he's done well in the transfer market. I'm not sure: anyone might have bought some new CBs, and poss Whitaker too; Snodds was heavily linked previously; and he did the Becchio/Moro swap and brought in Kei (and played him on the wing).
More glaring was the single-minded but ultimately fruitless chase of Hooper during the window, which in my view mirrors the unflinching single-mindedness he's shown in tactics and formation throughout the season, despite a disappointing set of results. No Plan B on the pitch, no Plan B in the market either.
Setting aside what he did at Geordies and Brum, in my humble O it was near- frantic swarming aggression that took us up two divisions, not old-school discipline and The Basics. And it was flexibility and confidence which kept us up last season (though I don't think it'd have worked again, in fairness). If we go down, he might bring us back up again, yes. But I wouldn't want to risk it if we can attract someone more promising while we still have some Prem wodge. No, I can't name anyone.
Thanks Hoots, you gave it your best. No malice.
