I think in terms of local politics alone, these results are actually okay for the Tories

Given that the majority of Ukip voters are disaffected Tories, I can only imagine that on most local issues they will side with one another. The national political shockwaves are obviously a different story, but locally I don't see how Ukip will act much differently from Tories.
