so I think that means that if they decide on a Monday evening, but inform him (and us) on the Tuesday, then the Tuesday would be the day his employment had actually terminated, wouldn't it? (Where's a lawyer when you need one....). Never mind if they'd actually decided to do it beforehand.
Trickier obviously if they sack him, including telling him, but we don't find out until afterwards. Would be the day it actually happened I think. But I reckon that's pretty unlikely in these days of multimedia instant news, isn't it?
