I don't think we'll suddenly become promotion contenders, but a good manager could make a big difference.
There are a lot of average sides in this division and the gap between the bottom 3 and 12th position isn't usually that great. If the new guy found a system (and the players) that plays to our strengths (Deano) then we would pick up the necessary results and move up the table.
Crewe showed last year the difference a top striker makes to a poor side in this division. All we need is a manager that realises that midfield is important and makes full use of the ability Ashton has (almost every other manager in the game I would imagine).
