I know its easy to say you can play well against ten men but I thought we played really well that day, and I went away thinking things could be alright for us. Esp as we were playing a Barnsley team that was riding hight from the prem and play offs a lot round then
Then Bellars kicked off, and was sold and the team like you say maybe turned on him
I thought Hamilton was hugely unlucky to lose Giallanza. Cos there were good days in that season, like the 4-2 against Sheff Utd when he got injured
Notman was permanently injured too
I know players like Walsh came in on a freebie, but like I say before, he turned up on 6k a week because there wasn't money for a transfer. I also stand by the fact that Walsh was on the top of his game at Leicester the season before, so we were unlucky that he turned s**t on us
Bad things just happened. Hamilton lost five games in a row but he amassed a lot more points than we have this season, so he can't have been doing that badly
Delia didn't want Hamilton sacked either, which I suppose you have to say is consistent because she doesn't want worthy sacked
Hamilton was never gonna get a fair go because of rivalry, and the minute it didn't look good, the minute he was finished
Worthington though, with all the cash and all the signings in the world he could ever have...............holds a lot lot more support here, yet has cause a much much bigger problem with the current crop of players
What's worse is it was so preventable. Managers before worthington lived off the scrappy buys and prayed for them to come good.
Worthington can pick and chose who he wants, Marney, Davenport...............Those players wouldn't have landed here under hamilton.
Harsh but only someone who isn't up to the job could have planted us in this situation
What is worse is that it cannot be seen by the club
A lot of criticisms against Hamilton was that good players he signed like Steeno and McVeigh never got a game, and was/is used as a good baiting stick to beat hamilton.
But, take a huge look at worthington. Signing Doherty for ?300,000 that would have risen to the 800,000 if we'd stayed up, the signing of helveg, and the 500k on safri. These were good signings and were wasted in the prem. He spent 1.5 million on Jonson and then never played him up front
They were huge parts of what went wrong last season. Esp Helveg
I can't stop people hating hamilton, or seeing the managers before him as a joke. But for me Worthington was no better than them, probably worse, he's wasted a lot on and signed a lot of crap
Equally he brought the good times back as well. He has over run his course here though and needs to go
