The Darryl Sutch phenomen

is now being displayed by Messrs. Hughes and Fleming. You might recall that in the dying embers of the Hamilton regime that one of the few (perhaps the only?) player to sign a new contract was the boy Darryl. This had to be because no one else would look at him, but he came on strong about Hamilton and the future and all the rest of the bollocks. I have to say that certainly Fleming and to a lesser extent Hughes come into the category of not likely to wanted elsewhere, so might as well jack up the chances of getting a game under Worthy. Hughes' comments are particularly galling. After reminding us only a couple of weeks ago that we're the best team in the division, and more recently saying "we'll do it for the gaffer", we now have further absurd brow-beating. Can they not get it that they're just not good enough and that, into the bargain they are demotivated and soul-destryed?

I must admit to having a huge regard for Delia, Michael and the rest of the Board, but my worry now is that they are going to lose all the goodwill they've built up over the years by failing to take action when it's necessary. This is espoused in a letter today in the EDP and I must say that if this situation is allowed to carry on for much longer, then season tickets may well be returned in some numbers, and even more worrying, they will not be renewed for next season, and we'll be back to 12-14,000 crowds and on a slippery slope. We've all seen what's happened to Notts Fst, and funnily enough I remember the EDP football correspondent at the time of Worthy's appointment (it might have been Rick Waghorn but I'm not sure) saying that" look at Megson and that's what you're getting". Prophetic words, although Megson did at least get two promotions with WBA before getting himself into his current level of s**t. Hope everyone noticed that Forest's goal on Saturday was scored by Gary Holt!!

There really can't be a clearer sign that everything's gone to pot than to see that the manager has decided not to talk to the players and then slag them off in the press. Must makre for an exhillirating atmosphere at Colney. Nero (is this Delia or Munby) has to realise that Rome is burning and act now before we find ourselves sampling the delights of Hartlepool and Walsall next season.

Still, it could be worse. We could have sacked Worthy and appointed Graham Rix.

OH FUCK!!
