Whereas if in January there was even the slightest chance that we could get him for a million say, then it's not hard to predict the Worthington thought processes that would ensue:

"Hmmm - I could spend a million on Davenport. OR, I could recall Craig to the centre, and buy myself a nice new striker. And that would give me someone else to play on the right, too. Hmm, which should I do....."

Fortunately of course, Worthy won't be here come January, so what he says he would do is completely irrelevant anyway. Phew.
