the LUCKIEST manager in recent history? (noone has ever said he is the luckiest manager in teh club's entire history!)
He is the only one to be given loads of money to spend (over ?3m on the playoff final team alone, and loads more on the promotion team), while other were having their best players sold from beneath them and being given peanuts to replace them with.
Saying he is the luckiest isn't the same as saying he is the worst, just that this is a huge factor (almost certainly the biggest) in the improved fortunes of the club since he took over. I see no reason to suggest that he is any worse than his recent predecessors, but I cannot hand-on-heart say with any degree of certainty that he is much better (all signs are that he is Gary Megson's alter ego). Calling him lucky is not abuse or derogatory , since while undeniably true it is hardly his fault. While he had the fortune of plenty of resources for 3 years he undeniably made good use of them. Like Megson at WBA he was just what the club needed at the time. Even though I am in the Worthy Out camp it doesn't mean I have forgotten that or would ever deny it.
