But surely it is only us who are letting it become the big issue...

My guess is that last night (and i wasnt there so i obviously cant substantiate this) there was comment made of it and then it was left. Hardly a smokescreen. Everyone knows the issues - whether they are being addressed or not. I just get the feeling that people get wrapped up in their own little world on here - mountains out of molehills etc...
