So, it appears that there is a "split" between Norwich supporters.
Those who, not unreasonably, want the club to push for a permanent place in the Premiership, to exercise a little ambition whilst doing so, while, at the same time realising that players will have to be sold on to balance the books and that we will never -and rightly- pay extortionate wages, but we will, however, look for players that match our ambitions, and, with management and board structure that echo that, do all we can to do so-like the infamous and now, frankly laughable "Charlton" model we used to hear so much about.
These supporters are set "against" those who want to enjoy their football every couple of weeks or so, same seat, same people around them, nice flask for half time, their ritual for "x" years and it doesn't really matter how we do or what our plans are as long as we remain a "nice" club with a "nice" manager and "nice" board, all of whom will gently propel us along with a minimum of wake or fuss, no rocking the boat, no trying to over achieve, just year after year of being, well, nice and mediocre!
You wonder sometimes now if promotion to the Premiership was met with secret horror by some people in the club who realised it meant expectations would shift and that their cosy little niche was not going to be as comfortable any more-as has been proven this season.
Hence the seemingly totally "stage managed" AGM last night, aimed, it would seem at (a) keeping those in the first group in their place, whilst (b) keeping those in the second happy and putting over an appearence of solidarity.
And it seems now that nothing and no-one is going to disturb the status quo so we can all look forward to some more "nice" mediocrity in the coming weeks where-by we are all made to look like raging discontents for wanting our club to do well-watch the PR exercise today for a start-whilst the club basks in the false glory of assuming all is well and expectation remains, as they prefer, minimal.
Shame.
