I dont think that you are right look at User Posted Link which gives details of a case against the Times which published a potentially libellous statement both in its newspaper and on its website. They were sued and the Court held that the one year limitation period for libel did not apply to libel published on the web. I still think you should at the very least publish a disclaimer - you will precedents if you use Google UK to search " libellous statements published on a website".
