and this is not some hysterical whinge.
Yesterday's transfer activity was a huge disappointment. However good Kane is he's still a kid not considered good enough at the moment by one of our rivals. If we had got him in as a makeweight then fair enough but he's been added in the crucial (striking) department that we all know is currently a problem area.
I hope he turns out to be brilliant. I also hope the Millwall fan who described him as 'Morison without the pace' is having an absolute belly laugh.
Who else could we have signed? I suppose we'll never know but personally I'd have liked Sharp ahead of CMS, Jerome etc. and was hopeful of Hughton & his scouts discovering someone really good from abroad.
Maybe we'll get an exciting loan in. Yes we've stabilised financially, yes we have signed some good players (Snodgrass, Garrido, Bassong) and some squad players (Whitaker, Turner) but for all that the failure to bring in someone a little bit special up front is a let down and in a week or two we could be in some serious trouble (ie if we lose today and then get mugged by Big Sam's commandos).
