My expectation for England is disjointed performances in the early games...

This will be put down to the importance of getting past the group stages, so no pretty football is allowed.

We will then put in another disjointed performance in the first knockout stage. This time it will be explained that it was because the game was a must win match.

We will then be knocked out in the next match by a team we all think we should be capable of beating. Despite being soundly outplayed we will blame the result on a single debatable refereeing decision.

Germany will play poorly all competition but somehow still manage to get to the final. England will then be compared to Germany and questions asked why a technically inferior German team can get further than England.
