Why should footballers be assumed to be exempt from having to work once their careers are over? Are they that f**king useless that they can't earn anything afterwards? The rest of us have to spend most of our lives working, so why should we feel sympathy for footballers who have a short but lucrative career? Holt's wages this year alone are ?880,000, last year they must've been not far short of that, and not exactly minimal for a number of years before that, so he must be pretty loaded by now. If, as is suggested below that this is all about extracting another 5k a week, then it seems to me that to hold the club to ransom when you're on nearly a million a year is just greedy quite frankly. If footballers can't survive without the high running costs that the trappings of extreme wealth bring, then that's their problem. 17k a week, *every* week, & that's not enough? Losing a lot of respect here.
