A lot read into a rumour below!

Regarding pay, though, we have a wage structure that is presumably calculated carefully. We can choose to change it or break it; but it means that we lose money that was earmarked for something else - others wages (including non-playing staff) and/or transfer budget or debt repayment or more stadium seats or more borrowing. On the other hand, if the wage structure isn't competitive then we risk losing players to other teams. That's football these days.
