The reason for the announcement of Holt's request

The club have 'leaked' it to the press. Agent has been playing the tough guy with the club over a contract extension/improvement and has used a transfer request as a negotiation. This has pissed McNasty RIGHT OFF and he has called the (possible) bluff by going public with it to cause maximum agent embarrassment with player.

Well, it's a theory.
