When I make things complicated it means that if I go somewhere else one of two things must

happen: a) the firms spends a lot of expensive time figgering out what I've made complicated, and how, or b) lives with the consequences of not knowing how the product they sell does what it does (this has a gold played history of not going well).

Which gives the firm a good reason to see that I don't go away, which makes me Happy.

That's a nice story, isn't it?
