You have to assume Whitbread would be a difficult one

His performances would justify making him one of our better paid players, but his reliability would not. It's not a huge leap to imagine that he would ask for more money than you could justify with his injury record. I've been thinking for a while it would be quite difficult for the club to agree terms with him.

And you can't let him AND ward go. I think bennett and ayala will be first choice CBs when fit anyway
