To be honest I think he will go to Villa if given the option

He will look at the budget available to him here (most specifically the wage budget) and think he'll have real job to do to match his achievements this season.

He'll want to go out with his reputation at its highest point.

He will look at Villa and think he can pay players ?40K a week there. He will also look at the players to come back into that team and think that with a bit of luck and not too major surgery he can have them competing for top 8 next season. With them being at such a low ebb that will only improve his stock further. It might also make a big club more willing to take a punt on him.

There is a reason that Villa is one of the jobs that most of us have been most worried about becoming vacant and that is because i think deep down most of us know he will take it.

If so, and he wants to go then thanks Paul for all you have done but lets get it over with quickly, get a new man in and start planning for next season. All the priase that is dished out to Lambert does a disservice at times to the quality of our players. We have a good squad of young, promising players, the club is back on its feet and in decent shape and the club is bigger than one (admittedly excellent) manager.
