My response to that scenario would be much the same for the circumstances.

There are no English top coaches these days. Roy seems a decent enough bloke but for f**ks sake he is second rate. Give the job to the best option, f**k where his passport was issued. We are so totally f**king useless now. Nationalistic f**king bollox it is. One seriously f**ked up country.
