OK so why do teams often have a difficult 2nd season, and why do teams who've started well fade and do a Blackpool so often? I think it's a case of having been sussed. Mogga has been sussed, we can see that, and now he has to change his game to counter that. We've played 36 games, we've been closely studied by skilled professionals and Lambo's tactic of changing formations and personnel to wrong foot the oppo is no longer any surprise. People know what we might do, and what individuals will probably do.
The other week I was chuckling at Terry Connor, barking at his players to get closer to Foxy. At the time I thought that this was because he thought Foxy was hurting them, tho in my opinion he wasn't, not all that. After yesterday I'm less sure: a lot of Foxy's work is in holding it for a few secs while others reorganise themselves or take new positions, and as a result he often gives it sideways or backwards and waits for it to come back. Yesterday he was struggling on the surface, and Gerrard went straight for him as soon as he took a step sideways. Good pass and stunning finish, though. Maybe Foxy needs a new trick?
For the second, Suarez had been nutmegging people all game, and Ward went to him with his ankles together to stop that. Bad decision against someone with such quick feet - and a stunning finish later, it's 2-0.
As for the third, well, no words needed. The little t**t, he'll never do that again.
