I'm not sure my original point has come through.

It's the moral superiority aspect that some watchers (for want of a better word) impose on others, based on the way some teams play the game.

Yes, teams should be applauded for playing the game aesthetically, but winning a game one - nil is just that, no matter how a team has done it. It's not a better victory if it's been done beautifully or functionally. Looking down on others' views and claiming that they somehow are of lesser intelligence or perception because they find it stifling and sterile is wrong. Liking the way Barcelona and Spain play doesn't make one more of a football expert by association.

That's not an accusation aimed at anyone on this board, by the way. It's my reaction to media and common assumptions.
