If you want to be a management accountant or a practice accountant.

CIMA - if you want to be management accountant

AAT followed by ACA or ACCA if you want to be a practice accountant/better qualification.

You will struggle to skip AAT without having a degree, and I recommend you do it first as it will stand you in good stead for going into the much harder ACA/ACCA exams.

I did maths, economics, physics A level, which led me to an accounting degree, so skipped AAT and did ACCA. The people who had done AAT found the ACCA a lot more straightforward than me coming out of uni.

The exams and training cost a fortune if funding yourself, it may be worhtwhile looking to see if your employer will help towards costs!
