I assumed that most would already be aware of it and what it was calling for.

And that it was such a simple, non-taxing and eminently decent thing to do that everyone would be happy to sign it.

I should have put it anther way:-

"If you're sick of scousers bleating on and on and on about their dead relatives, sign it, get the papers released and that will shut them up quickly."
