This is a day that I didn't think we'd see as Norwich fans again.
I thought the Premier League was beyond us, that it had grown up and away from us, much as we have and left behind some of the players that helped us on the proverbial journey back to where we are today.
Contrary to the thoughts of many, I do think its going to be a hard old slog this season. We have a good squad of players, a great Manager (who'll either be with us for one more season or another twenty) and a team spirit that I think is as good as any we've had in our history.
But the PL is a tough, remorseless, unforgiving monster that is full of greed, cynicism and cheats. I love it that we're there, I love the recognition and exposure that it gives us, I love the rewards that come to club, City and fans that come via it and I love that people at and around the club are being repaid for their loyalty and work through what starts today.
For the sheer joy of the football experience and competition, I think that the Championship is one of the best leagues in the world. Thata not to say I want us back there again-but that, if we do fall this season, then as a "consolation prize", its not the worse place in the world to be. Also, and by God this I do believe, if we go down, we will be in such a strong position to come back again anyway, that it would make Summer 2012 as exciting as this one has been.
But, for now and today, its about the Prem. Good luck and cry goal for Norfolk, Norwich and St Paul!
Do us proud. CTID.
