declare now and australia could win, if they hit around 500 and then bowl us out in a session or so. possible but extremely unlikely imho. much more likely that we'd wrap it up and leave australia with a huge task to win the series

bat on and the draw becomes distinctly possible. it's too big a risk with rain around, and if we're worried about losing to this team (who are frankly pretty s**t - everyone in our team bar the wicketkeeper has a better first class bowling average than xavier doherty) from this position then we are cowards
