The financial disaster currently engulfing Liverpool - manifesting itself in the boardroom, in the stands and on the pitch - shows that even the 'biggest' clubs won't be beyond the clampdown from the banks and the HMRC that's following English football's years of financial irresponsibility.
Blackburn, for example, have repeatedly stated that relegation will be an absolute disaster for them, and Phil Gartside's risible attempts to get English football restructured suggest that Bolton wouldn't cope well with it either - to name just two.
The teams that would be less f**ked by relegation are the teams that are less established - Blackpool, WBA, Wolves, Stoke - but I don't think it'll be the case in future that the three relegated teams will always be favourites to go back up.
